SEQUOYAH COUNTY, Oklahoma -. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says a Sallisaw Police officer shot and killed a man during a traffic stop Sunday night. The shooting happened outside the Sallisaw hospital at about 10:45 p.m.. The man is identified as 37-year-old Jonathan Atchley.

According to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, east and westbound lanes of I-40 near Sallisaw were closed due to high waters. Those roads were reopened just before 1:00 p.m. Sunday. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation said US 64 is closed between Sallisaw and Muldrow.
